It is possible to play a realistic Stock Market Game even if there is no (human) opponent. The reason for this is the fact that you can activate an Intelligent Computer Player (ICP) based on Artificial Intelligence. The ICP is able to act as 'market maker' and as a representative market participant. Actually, the ICP can trade shares with itself (normal players are not allowed to do that). Based upon ongoing scientific research the ICP has been trained to react to news events like real investors would. As the ICP is very rich it can easily influence the Stock Prices and make sure they behave like in the real world. The ICP does not want to maximize its profits (as such it does not compete with the human player), it is only programmed to create realistic dynamics in the stock market.
To play the Stock Market Game as a single player (against the ICP) you should follow the steps outlined below.
Go to the home page of Stock-Market-Game.com and have a careful look at the Current Stock Market Games table.

Check if there are Game Servers that are active, freely accessible, and free of any charge (we assume that you don't have access to a privileged and/or paid server).

Check out any appropriate Game Server that is available by clicking the URL (in the second column).

Observe the time table of the server that you selected. Determine a time frame that is well-suited for your game.

If there is no appropriate time frame available for your game to be played, you have to select another server (go back to step 1 - click the Stock-Market-Game.com logo in the right top corner of this webpage). Otherwise, click the 'here' hyperlink to create a new game.

Fill out the 'Schedule a New Game' form and click the submit button. Make sure to leave the Artificial Intelligence selection to the 'AI Computer Player' position. Also, do not enter a game duration that is too long as to allow other players to use the server.

Click the 'here' hyperlink to return to the Server's Home Page.

Observe how the new game is included in the schedule. At the specified start time the server will host your game and display the ONLINE label in the Status column.

Click the URL of the game that you created and observe the Logon screen.

Fill out the registration form to create a player account, and click the Submit button.

Click the 'here' hyperlink to return to the Server's Home Page.

Click the URL of the game that you created and observe the Logon screen.

Enter you User ID and Password, and click the Submit button.

Congratulations! You are now in the Trading Room of Stock-Market-Game.com.

Open a new Browser Window and go to the Server where your game is hosted.
Click the URL of the game that you created and observe the Logon screen.

Enter the User ID and Password of the Administrator (owner of the Game), and click the Submit button.

Observe the Administration Panel. You have various commands at your disposal. Also you should see a list of all players that have created an account.

Select the 'Reset Game' command, and click the Submit button.

Select the 'Create News' command, and click the Submit button.

Select the 'Start Game' command, and click the Submit button.

Observe the Administration Panel carefully. Very important: leave this screen open during the whole duration of the game! This page contains a so-called Pacemaker (inside an inline frame) that acts as clock, and causes the Stock Market to handle transactions!

Observe how the Players Trading Screen displays a lot of activity... You are now ready to play!
